What is Professional Teeth Whitening?

Professional teeth whitening is a cosmetic dental treatment that brightens teeth and removes some stains using a professional-grade whitening gel. It is one of our most popular cosmetic treatments.

What causes stains on teeth?

There are many factors that can cause staining on teeth. Coffee, tea and red wine are all major contributors to teeth staining, along with smoking or chewing tobacco. Some people need to take medications that have the side effect of staining teeth. Teeth can change color as you age, too.

Who is a good candidate for professional teeth whitening treatments?

Not all stains can be whitened with professional whitening treatments. Good candidates for our services include:

  • Yellow teeth. Brown or gray stains are less likely to be whitened.
  • Healthy teeth. We do not recommend teeth whitening if you have major issues such as untreated decay or gum disease.
  • Non-sensitive teeth. Whitening may cause some tooth sensitivity. If your teeth are very sensitive to begin with, this treatment may not be right for you.

Unsure if you are a good candidate for our teeth whitening services? Our teeth whitening dentist, Dr. Crystal, will examine your mouth and let you know whether you could benefit from professional whitening. Call our office today to schedule your consultation.

What is the difference between in-office whitening treatments and at-home treatments?

In-office treatments are accomplished in one appointment. We use a professional grade of bleaching gel, which can brighten your teeth several shades.

At-home treatments are designed to brighten your teeth gradually. It may take a couple of weeks to get to your optimal shade. People with sensitive teeth may benefit from the at-home whitening as it is a gradual process.

With either option, custom whitening trays will be made so that you are able to whiten at home, as needed.

Creating Healthy Smiles is Where We Shine

There’s nothing we love more than providing beautiful, lasting results.

Teeth Whitening Dentist at Bright Dental Studio

When you come for in-office teeth whitening, we first examine your teeth to check for any existing restorations and make sure you are a good candidate for our teeth whitening treatment. We will  inform you about the process and the costs, so you can decide whether or not you want to continue with the treatment.

Before we begin whitening, we prepare your mouth by protecting your gums, lips, and cheeks.

Then, we apply the whitening gel directly to your teeth where it whitens for 30 minutes. We remove the gel and reapply a new coat of gel to whiten for another 30 minutes. Most whitening appointments last an hour and a half to two hours.

Is the Teeth Whitening Process Painful?

No, teeth whitening is not a painful process. However, some  people do experience increased sensitivity due to the whitening treatments.Using a sensitive toothpaste, gentle brushing and lukewarm water can help with this sensitivity.

How Long Does Teeth Whitening Last?

The results of any teeth whitening treatment will not last forever. Your teeth may stay white a few months or up to a year, depending on your oral hygiene habits and your diet. To maintain your whitened smile, we recommend touch up whitening that can be done at home with your custom trays and whitening gel, which is sold at our office.

What is the Cost of Cosmetic Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening treatments are the least expensive cosmetic dental treatment at our office. Contact us to find out options and pricing for whitening treatments at Bright Dental Studio.
